Homestead, FL - Chip Ganassi Racing announced today that the NBA's Miami Heat Basketball team
will sponsor the No. 9 Chevrolet/G Force piloted by veteran driver Jeff Ward.
The one-race deal was agreed upon today at the Homestead-Miami International Speedway.
Team owner Chip Ganassi feels that the cross-promotion will benefit both parties involved.
"This is a mutually beneficial relationship for both Chip Ganassi Racing and the Miami Heat,"
Ganassi said. "This allows both parties to benefit from the exposure that the Indy Racing League
and the National Basketball Association provide. We are honored to carry the colors of the
Miami Heat this weekend as we pursue a victory in the season-opening race in Homestead."
Jeff Ward, last year's pole-winner at Homestead-Miami Speedway is happy to don the logo of
the Miami Heat franchise.
"I'm excited to have the Miami Heat on the car this weekend," Ward explained. "They're a
winning organization with great athletes. We're hoping to get the Heat in Victory Lane."
The 20th Anniversary Grand Prix of Miami will be held on Saturday, March 2ndat the
Homestead-Miami Speedway. The race can be seen live on ABC beginning at 1 p.m.
