  • It appears that there won't be a qualification sessoin.?

I don't have any confirmation of this, but I'm guessing track activity is done for the day. That would mean that the cars will start according to last years points. Its an unfortunate set of circumstances.

I hate the situation that put us here, but atop of everything going on here, I'm still concerned for Donnie. I hope he can be fit enough to drive. He would start 13th or 14th.

God speed Jeff C., and everyone in the RSCA community.

We still have a race to run tomorrow. I am praying that it is a clean one.

Couldn't have said it any better. Very nice post.

I agree, the Fox News channel showed a shot from above the scene and it appears that they are still on a hold for an investigation. I didn't like what was shown!

My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Jeff Clinton! RIP Jeff

Even if the track is cleared by the local police, is anyone at the track really in the mood to get back to business?

Usually, when there is a fatality, the track stays quiet for the rest of the day, out of respect.

I think (hope?) they'll let everybody go home, get some rest and get back to business on Saturday. Qualifying isn't that important.

Not that it means a whole lot when compared to a man's life, but where would the Penske, Ganassi, & Nunn drivers start if there were no quals? This might be why they're going to go ahead with quals today.

It is probably safe to assume that teams that changed numbers didn't lose their entrant points. So the lineup would have been something like this:

                  1. Sam Hornish, Jr
                  2. Buddy Lazier
                  3. Scott Sharp
                  4. Billy Boar
                  5. Donnie Beechler
                  6. Ricky Treadway
                  7. Eddie Cheever
                  8. Jacques Lazier
                  9. Robbie Buhl
                  10. Eliseo Salazar
                  11. Anthony Lazzaro
                  12. Al Unser, Jr.
                  13. Robbie McGehee
                  14. Billy Roe
                  15. Helio Castroneves
                  16. Tyce Carlson
                  17. Gil de Ferran
                  18. Laurent Redon
                  19. Jon Herb
                  20. Jeff Ward
                  21. Tomas Scheckter
                  22. Hideki Noda (?)
                  23. Felipe Giaffone (?)
                  24. George Mack (?)
                  25. John de Vries (?)
                  26. Alex Barron (?)

I'm not sure exactly how the last 4 would line up, since none of their owners have any entrant points from last year. The rest of the lineup is what it probably would have looked like.

There is a law here if anyone dies they have to do a full out investigation and they did it as fast and good as they could. I didn't know about it till Janet McGehee told me (cause RBM and Jeff were friends) and then that is when it starting going around at the track about Jeff.
