I have never seen a road race as exciting as that.. The Japan F1 race from last year was close but not that good.. That is why we need no merger..

We needed a slow beginning. If they had started that sis by side stuff at the start, none of us would have made it the finish today, we'd have all been spent by halfway.

These teams/drivers have figured out the past few years that you need to 'ride' (to borrow a NASCAR term) for the first 170 laps and really get after it in the last 30.

Those that think that races at Homestead, Texas, Chicago etc.... are like Cup plate races are sadly mistaken and very ignorant. Its NOT side-by-side, 2-by-2 racing for 200 laps. Those that think that are sadly mistaken and very ignorant to IRL oval racing.
IRL 2009: "Cars you can't see, driven by drivers you have never heard of, on a network you don't get"

"I'd hire your grandmother, if she brought a budget"- Bankrupt Indy Car team owner Tyler Tadevic, to Curt Cavin in December, on the tough standards he looks for when "hiring" driver talent.

It is all about planning and then making the strike. Wheldon was trying every possible line before all hell broke loose. When it came time, he knew where he needed to be on the track at every corner.

He is also very car savvy and knows how to let the folks in the pits know what he needs done to improve his car. His lines changed considerably after his last pit stop and he could run high or low except that Helio had the "low" covered.

He just could be the real thing and I will enjoy following him this season regardless of who he drives for.

Pretty good drive by Helio also. He did everything in his power to hold Dan off short of running him out of track but held his line and let it happen.

Things like those last 20-odd laps are one of the reasons I love Indy car racing.
