  • IRL on America Right????

Last year XM carried the IRL on the "Extreme" channel 152, which is a channel that normally carries radio "shock jocks", and which is given over to reruns on the weekends anyway, with a simulcast on "Special Events" channel 200, which is only active to cover, well, special events.

According to the XM web site the home of the races this year will be "America Right" channel 166, which, obviously, is the home of rightist political talk on the weekdays, and, oddly, a mixture of self-help and lifestyle shows on the weekends.

This may be a typo, but it is from the schedule page on xmradio.com , which is updated weekly. The IRL page has not been updated in months and still points to 152.

What about the IRL makes it "right wing" ?????

Clearly XM Managment is has gone all "i Am INDY" on us and they have changed the focus of that channel (and others)....

The website shows XM 200 has gone from Right Wing to Rear Wing.

Please note these changes also in the works:

XM 40 -Deep Tracks is being changed to Oval Tracks

XM 73 -Frank's Place is being changed to TG's Place

XM 116 -XM Kids is being changed to Howard Dolan's Channel

    and finally,
XM 133 -XM Public Radio is being changed to X-Treme MINDY Radio!

    (Did I miss any?!?!?)

Yep! Now I don't have to worry about being in front of a TV on raceday. All I have to worry about is making sure I'm in a car or boat...

Who cares? It's just as easy to tune in 166 as it is 152 on an XM Radio. I like Tommy's channel ideas.

I haven't followed either that closely, but I think Air America Left is more left than America Right. Right has the weekly car show, which based on the daily minute, filler show is apolitical. Others found on AR include America's Car Show, Car and Driver, Money Pit - which all seem to be appropriate to racing - Matt Drudge, and Dr. Laura. Left deviates with Jerry Springer.

It is still the best sounding radio broadcast of the race and it is available virtually everywhere, even if you are working in the yard.

              I sure hope so!

                Update:

All of the IRL races will be on "The IRL Channel", XM 145, which was formerly the home of NASCAR in-car audios during races. The America Right channel will be taken down during the racing (XM is bandwidth limited).

The channel will not only carry the IMSRN coverage, but other "wraparound" coverage pre- and post- race produced just for XM, including concert coverage. Eventually other programming will be developed and carried on the channel on weeknights.
