  • The "homage" speech

Anyone have a link to the exact wording of this? Just wanted to read it. It's good stuff.

RIP, Dan. You will always be one of my heroes.

Different men, from vastly different backgrounds, focused on the same goal – a white line painted on a yard of brick 500 miles ahead.

Thanks to my collection of full-race tapes starting with '98, this is not limited to 10 min. once-a-year. Yes, I do well up whether it's the live race or a tape I've watched 20 times. Can I get a witness.....

Amen, brother. It's stuff like this that brings us all together, despite our differences.

You should be able to right click it and "save target as" and put it somewhere on your system. If you left click it, it should open in your default media player (mine is windows media player) and after it downloads and/or plays then click file and "save as". Hope this helps.

Of all the changes that have taken place with the 500 and the Month of May in the last ten years, dropping the "homage" is the only one that truly upsets me.

Should we bury TG's office in letters asking that it come back for good?
I ain't quiet, everybody else is too loud.

Can't believe it isn't done every year. Bring it back for good!

Figured it out. It started playing in Quicktime when I clicked the link. I set my preferences on windows media player to make it the default player for mp3. Thanks for the download.

                          Yes we should!

Now all we have to do is figure out who should give it.

No one will ever replace the solemn voice of Jim Phillipe.

Was it last year or the year before that they played it before the race in remembrence of Jim?

No one could do it like he, but let someone do it. The homage speech and the airial bombs were the best of the prerace/lap 1, in my opinion.

That recording is timed perfectly with the flyover and taps.

Man, makes me cry like a baby. I love the 500.

Nobody has to replace Jim. It's recorded.
Pay homage to Jim, IMS. Let him do it.
