  • Way Ot - Your Next Car!!

400 HP Pontiac Solstice Conversion. They basically shoehorn in an LS2 into a Solstice. For only $19K on top of the 20K you are already spending for the car.

Thats $39K for a car that will smoke any new base Corvette that your annoying neighbor down the block has.

    UNREAL!!!

    Plus it has a warranty.

If only you could get a Pontiac Solstice for $20K....at least around here, dealers are asking a $2K premium, and the cars they're ordering are $25K sticker.

But the Hammer Solstice is a nice piece.

I'm thinking the Solstice and the Saturn Sky have to be pretty close. I really like the looks of the Sky and if that LS2 could fit in it, that thing would be awesome.

Damn, that thing would be a rocket! The step up from the base 2.4l 177hp I4 to a 400hp LS2 might be a LITTLE bit noticeable. But only a little bit.

Curb weight is 2860lbs, vs 3179 for a Vette... sheds some 300lbs. If you get the top package (30k... penske shocks, big brake package etc) + an MSRP Solstice (20k), you would have a vette killer for about the same price.

The same thing should be totally doable to a Sky. They are in effect the same car with different styling... but the Sky is about 5k more than the Solstice, and i dont think it looks quite as good.

btw, who else is thinking "sunbeam tiger" when they see this thing

They are designed from the same platform. The Saturn Sky is modeled off of the Vauxhall Lightning (european) Which is sadly not going to be produced. And the Solstice Is modeled off of a few different cars.

THAT!!!! Is my dream car. I will tell you what. That car handles like its on rails. It's awesome looking, and purrs like a beast.

One of the best cars I have ever been in.

Be interesting to see what the bigger engine does to the handling due to weight distribution. Would guess it will be seriously comprimised.

              btw...great pictues..thanks

Actually, the Mallett Solstice only weighs about 150 lb over stock and is quite well balanced: from the Autoweek article some time back

To achieve such superior agility, the car is ballasted such that a 200-pound person sitting behind the wheel gives it perfect 50:50 lateral weight distribution. And with a full tank of gas, the weight split fore and aft is near that, at 52:48.

Achieving such good balance involved shoving the engine rearward to within millimeters of the tolerances set by GM for crash-worthiness. In fact, the LS2 sits so far back within the engine bay that you would be correct in calling the car a mid-engine vehicle.

                  Dammit HEath

They only make a hundred a year, I was hiding this information until I hit Powerball on Wednesday and then I was going to wipe out the whole year and give them to my friends...

Actually I am opting for the $45K upgrade to the 600hp 427ci monster.

Vroom Vroom will kick Zoom Zoom's ass...

I really looked at these hard, but was more concerned about the business end of it than the price. I am going to opt for the 270hp factory model this fall, when some of the initial year bugs have been swatted.

Did anyone else notice the 600hp supercharged option?!
