        True story!</STRONG>
I heard the authorities had to take it from him because he was constantly spanking it.

While he is taking a shot at Andretti - the statement also applies to a lot of other "senior" drivers in my list who ran at the back of CART grids and have breathed life into their careers by running the IRL.

Again, Bone, YOU are applying it to your list. Pook didn't do it. Check the tense of his verbs. . . PRESENT tense. Not past tense. You simply wish to apply it differently than Mr. Pook.

There's no question about what he is saying. He's shooting at Andretti. He's hoping nobody checks on what he says. He knows that Michael leaving will be a HUGE PR blow for CART -- one that could potentially kill the series. So he's doing as many posters have done in the past on both sides of the split -- he's softening the blow. "Who needs him anyway!" You've read posts like that all over the net. It's sad that the leader of a racing series sounds like an overly emotional internet forum poster.

The last straw. I believed the hype that this guy could turn CART around or
at least bring qualified and dignified leadership to the circus that CART
has become. This latest remark infuriated me. That statement, and we all
know what he meant, clearly insulted and dishonored the most recognizable
name in our sport. It is clear that CART truly has no real hope and the only
remaining option is to "sling mud" whenever possible.

Ya' know, it's bad enough that Chris Pook is saying stuff like this, but it's not much better that so many feel the need to flame back. I think this thread has run its course.
