And I strongly believe that Thiago Medeiros will be 3rd rookie this year for D&R. But in any case Marco will have a runaway rookie season.

less rookies equals increased league stability?

What percentage of the 43 cup drivers will be rookies this year?

Why is Paul Dana a rookie? He drove some races last year. Is there a mimimum threshold he still hasn't crossed?

I really think that PJ Chesson will end up somewhere as well.

The rule is (or at least used to be) that a driver was a rookie as long as he had never run more than three ICS races in a single season or five over his entire career.
No weather forecasts are ever guaranteed, even if confidence level is high. Even a 99% probability will miss 1% of the time. That's the best anybody can do when predicting highly complex events.

I think not having a lot of rookies is a good thing. That means we kept more drivers from the previous season.

Driver turn-over is a bad thing.

Hmm.. I thought he had run 3 races last year. Maybe they upped the limit to 4 or 5?

EDIT: just noticed that you had said more than 3 ICS races. That would be correct, then.

Ed Carpenter, Koskee Matsurra, Ryan Briscoe, Mark Taylor, Paul Dana, Tomas Enge, Danica Patrick, Anthony Foyt and Roger Yasakawa.

All these drivers were IRL rookies since 2003. Considering this list and all the 'great' things they have accomplished in the IRL, maybe its a good thing that there aren't many rookies this year. Our owners obviously haven't uncovered a lot of new oval talent in the past 3 years.

Thiago is going USAC racing this year. He is testing today at Homestead.

                            Alternate explanations:

                            - Teams folded and fewer rides are available
                            - Veteran drivers from earlier go-arounds (e.g. Felipe Giaffone) took the rides
