  • DANICA PATRICK - America's Hottest Racer

    New book.

“DANICA PATRICK: America’s Hottest Racer” tells the saga of a talented racer who seems to have balanced the talents of her two car owners … Bobby Rahal and David Letterman.
Every racing book doesn’t have to be “War and Peace.” This one isn’t. Every racing driver doesn’t have to be Mario Andretti or John Force. Danica Patrick isn’t. What she IS … is the best thing to happen to American open-wheel racing in the decade since the CART/IRL split. The media hype surrounding her performance in the 2005 Indianapolis 500 put Indianapolis back on front pages across the country and around the globe, largely based on this one hundred pound Atlas taking the weight of the Indy Racing League on her slender shoulders.

I'll have you know I own the copyright to the phrase "no-talent hack" and I demand royalties! Judge Marilyn Milian agrees with me too!

RE: the Danica book, I don't foresee it having any earth-shattering information or groundbreaking storytelling in it -- most racer bios these days are sadly underweight as a rule -- but I might pick up a copy at the library one of these days.

I remember back in the '70s when Steve Cauthen rode Seatle Slew to the triple crown at 18 years of age (or thereabouts). I was in elementary school at the time but I remember seing his biography in the non-fiction section of my school library. Even at that young age I remember thinking "he's 18, what sort of biography could they write?". This sort of reminds me of this. When she's much older and has a successful career to look back on (hopefully), then a book about her would be interesting. Heck, it may even make a good movie. Now, it just looks like a hack job put out to make some quick money.

But, this is good publicity for an IRL driver, so it's good publicity for the league. The more Danica's name and face is out there before the season starts, the more people will tune in/show up to see her race.

Ah, there's nothing more exciting than science. You get all the fun of sitting still, being quiet, writing down numbers, paying attention... Science has it all.

The three things most people will consider before buying this book:

            1) Are there pictures?

            2) What kind?

            3) How many?

My bad - I thought you typed that Todd Harris had read a book!

              Paperback -- Dimensions: 8 1/4" x 10 5/8"
              Pages: 128 -- Photos: 150 color
They had to write the book while she is HOT.

ALSO: The chapter titled "How a Punch Nearly Landed
Me in the Pokey; Jacues & Me"
              is a real knee slapper!

ALSO, ALSO: You only need to read thru page 78, since that's where she PEAKS!

ALSO WIK: Page 112 is Strong enough for a Man, but written for a Women...Don't tell it's a SECRET!!!

Hottest racer, what the heck does that signify?

                Looks?
Higher than norm temperature, >100 degrees F?
                Temperment of Little League Daddy?

SpeedTV.com Book Review: "DANICA PATRICK - America's Hottest Racer"

Motorsports coverage includes news, highlights, rankings and more spanning NASCAR, Formula 1, NHRA, ARCA, MotoGP, IndyCar and more auto racing circuits.

From Letterman, she learned to diffuse tension with humor. When Robby Gordon whined about Danica’s weight being an advantage, she quipped with the Lettermanesque line, “They don’t lower the rims for shorter players in the NBA.” She handled the hype and its backlash … teammates who wore “Danica’s Teammate” t-shirts … and after her rookie mistake took out Tomas Enge at Indy … they auctioned off her wing from the incident and raised over $40,000 for charity. Don’t look for a “Sophomore Slump” from Danica as the IRL readies for 2006. Read the book and see for yourself if she’s “The Real Deal.”
Review by Gregg Leary, a researcher/writer for “Wind Tunnel with Dave Despain” and Book critic for SPEEDTV.com, was the track announcer for Hooter’s IHRA Drag Racing at National Events in the USA and Canada and entertained event crowds during “down time” by conducting “crowd participation” and product giveaways with the Hooter’s Girls.

He also was Marketing/PR Director and track announcer at Lake Erie Speedway.
There's really no such thing as Gary the Moose, Sybil.
