    Indy infield replacing F1?

Came across that conversation today while visiting a business in Indy. Overheard two people talking in the back room to each other and claimed they had "heard" that.

    Anybody?

People hear ringing in their ears too but that doesn't mean the Liberty Bell is moving to the infield either.

I'd say doubtful on the Indy road course (just a guess on my part). But I am interested to hear if there is anything new with Iowa and San Antonio.

                      Looking into my crystal ball....

I just hope we keep the tracks we got right now. If we have to keep Motegi around, just make sure it isn't the race leading up to Indy. Talk about a complete momentum killer.

Iowa has to be added. People will be surprised about the number of rabid race fans in that part of the country. Plus, it will be another short oval (think a little faster, racier Richmond). It will be an instant success.

Phoenix, Las Vegas, Fontana (all warm weather locales that could host races early in the season) NEED to be back in the IRL. Phoenix and Fontana could be added as night races (need more than 3 night races). Forget the San Antonio 'festival of speed'. We are already stuck with St. Pete. One CART-esque street parade is one too many for an open-wheel oval racing series.

18 races (and 17 on real race tracks) starting in mid March and ending in early September. A real build-up to May with more races, all on US soil, in major media markets (LA, Phoenix, Vegas, Miami, Tampa). Continued consistancy in equipment and price reductions make for bigger fields and more competition. TV ratings and attendance increase with better marketing and a better on air product (that will start this year). For the first time since 2002, there is actual competition for starting spots at Indy (bringing back the most unique/exciting day in motorsports; Bump Day). Indy has its most compelling race in ages as the 2 most famous families in the history of open-wheel racing (the Andretti's and Unser's) have another on-track battle (and at Indy, we all know its going to be Al IV beating Marco) with pole-sitter Dave Steele finishing 3rd. Al Sr, Al Jr and Just Al take a victory lap together in the pace car. PJ Chesson and Danica Patrick make contact on the track and the two cocky hotheads duke it out in the north short shute grass (just like Daytona 1979). NASCAR drivers Robby Gordon, Tony Stewart, Paul Tracy and Kurt Busch all make the race, thanks to Humpy Wheeler's decision to move the Coke 600 to Saturday Night. The league has genuine momentum and buzz to last the season.

A guy can dream, can't he???
IRL 2009: "Cars you can't see, driven by drivers you have never heard of, on a network you don't get"

"I'd hire your grandmother, if she brought a budget"- Bankrupt Indy Car team owner Tyler Tadevic, to Curt Cavin in December, on the tough standards he looks for when "hiring" driver talent.

I would love to see the exotic machines of ALMS (I'ld love to see more of them in the P1 and GT1 categories too), but it'll probably be Grand Am. Why does it have to be either or, maybe both series could run events there and that will help in the cost of lighting up the speedway.

Indy's place as Racing Capital would be further cemented if that came about.

                        Side guess, A1GP in 2007?

I am not sweating Iran, because the Israelis will do the same thing they did to Iraq when they tried to get the bomb in the 80's. The will go in there and blow that reactor to pieces.
