He knows The Brickyard, no doubt about it, but how well does he know the current generation of cars? After all, he hasn't been in an Indycar in 3 years. Does he need some pre-Indy race time to stand a chance to win?

Should Michael do a pre-Indy oval?
103Nah, he'll do fine for the first 194 laps. Then he'll break. :D46.60%48Yeah, he should do Homestead or Motegi. We need to hear more whining.48.54%50If the engines are in front, it won't matter. He won't have a chance.4.85%5"I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend." - Thomas Jefferson

I'm sure Honda would love for Michael to race at Motegi.
On the other hand, he'll have plenty of practice time in May to become acquainted with the car.
I'm betting that he can still be competitive without participating in races before Indy.

I'd say during the month he'll get the "groove" back, and he'll be a huge threat to win it. He couldn't be in any better equipment at that particular time.

Yea it would be nice to see that Vonage car on the Homestead grid.."Paff has been closer to the mark than anyone will give him credit for."

It would be great for the IRL if Mikey would run the early schedule, although I'm not sure how much it would help him prepare for the big track by running Homestead and Motegi. He'll have pleanty of time at Indy to shake himself and the car down during May and if Pole Day is his first on track activity of importance in 3 years, I imagine the Speedway will see its largest crowd in years.
