  • New Sponsorship Idea

Has anyone ever thought of trying to get on of the "anti-smoking" products or ad money to sponsor a car. I think it would be really cool to see one of the "good guys" or gals sponsored by "The Patch" or "Nicoderm" or the outfit that runs all these anti-smoking ads all the time. (After all racing seems to be about the only place where the Tobacco companies get to run ads anyway. And it seems like there would probably be race fans trying to quit.)

(I( don't smoke, but I am not an anti-smoking fanatic either. I just would like to see more sponsoers.)

For me it would be UPS.

UPS definately knows how to market itself.
I see more UPS Dale Jarrett commercials than all of the IRL commercials combined. I do think that will change with the arrival of Toyota and Honda.

Sam has one of those anti-smoking sponsors if I remember right. It's a small sponsor but I remember hearing about it awhile back.

BTW - it was fun to see the brief Ray-O-Vac vs. Energizer race.

When Dennis Vitolo had the Smithklein Beecham sponsorship he ran their anti-smoking drug on his car.

Johnsonville brats is the way to go. Man,
are those things good. Last year at the
U.S. Nationals Johnsonville brats had a big
set up, and needless to say, I was there several times. The IRL could use such culinary delights.

Comments on a few, in no particular order.

Sears: Maybe as a smaller associate (Craftsman) but no big money as they don't have it to spend.

KFC: Also, no big money available but maybe free wings and bisuits to the team. (go for the original recipe)

Maglite: If you ever strike a sponsorship deal with (owner) Tony Maglica, be sure you get the check up front. He still owes me over 20K from several years ago and I know I'm not likely to ever see a dime of it.

                  The Battle of the Batteries!!!
That was fun. I wonder if that might encourage Energizer to a full sponsorship.

BTW- that was a very nice looking paint scheme on Jeff Ward's car.

Also, UPS wins hands down on the best racing related ad campaign. My two dauaghters who have very little to no interest in racing know who Dale Jarret is and that he should race that big brown truck.

Maybe you didn't know, but KFC is owned by PepsiCo. PepsiCo also owns Taco Bell adn Pizza Hut.

So, I'd think they might have a few dollars laying around...

You misspelt YUM! Foods, whch was known as TriCon Global. They own KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Long John Silver's and A&W. Pepsi does own a good piece of them, but they are not a majority owner, IIRC. All of PepsiCo's food restaurant interests were spun off into it.

Ah, but I did. That they were. Now they are not. Haven't been for a long time. KFC is among the least profitable in the new group and among fast food businesses in general. Noticed how many KFC's have closed down?

                        Maybe you didn't know.

Cripes, it's about time those Cheeseheads up in LaCrosse started giving back to their biggest audience.

Old Style should sponsor a 3 car team and the entire Chicagoland Race.

Aquafina should step up. The $3.00 a bottle at the track is highway robbery. If there was ever a gouge to the public this is it.

What irks me (maybe its too soon for the truth), DW was a 16-oval WIN specialist, yet the vast majority those boohooing for him, hardcarders & fans, alike are the same ones trying to kill anything with more than 9 deg banking & 4 corners, where Dan ultimately made his home...
