    R.I.P. Maury Kraines
"I think of Indianapolis every day of the year, every hour of the day, and when I sleep, too. Everything I ever wanted in my life, I found inside the walls of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I love it all, from the first to the last day in May. The moment that race starts is always the greatest moment of my life, and the day I win that race, it will be as if my life has ended. There is nothing more I could want out of life."
    - Eddie Sachs."

    That would be Kraco correct?

    Yes, RIP Maury
It's always been about the Indy 500!
I realize I have the right to remain silent, but don't have the ability or enough common sense to do so.

I put a thread up on the Champ Car forum, but let me reiterate RIP Mr. Kraines. You were a true fan of motor racing.

Can anyone explain to me when/why they got out of the car stereo business and why their own website mentions Indycar racing but not the car stereos which made them "world famous?"

I realize that, but usually when a person dies they print their proper name, and I've seen no references to that.

Maury Kraines was more the sportsman than some in those days. He had drivers like Mike Moseley, Geoff Brabham, Michael Andretti and Bobby Rahal in the blue and yellow cars.

Did you notice you could always spot the KRACO cars on track. Mr Kraines was a smart guy he had his marketing people do an analogy of what colors stood out the most on TV with a backdrop of the grey or black race surface.
That is how he came up with the design and colors.
Smart and knowledgeble guy and he cared about the people who worked for him. It was a neat team to be connected with.

Tell us why whenever possible Mr. Kraines had his car's numbered 18, and 99.

And why, when Rahal first joined Galles-Kraco, the car(s) he tested had the #18 colors inverted (in other words, more like Michael Andretti's original #99s with yellow nose/cowling and blue sidepods) but never raced as such (even though it was fully decaled when tested)?

Let's not forget that the first driver Kraco sponsored was Larry "Boom Boom" Cannon.
