  • Why is Dan driving the #10 next year?

I don't get it - I thought for sure that he'd be driving the #1, but at the Ganassi press conference it was revealed he'll probably be in the #10.

That just doesn't make sense - I'm sure both Ganassi and Target would love to have a #1 on their car, so I'm wondering what the reason is.

Maybe Dan thinks it's bad luck.

Is the No. 1 Dan's to use or do the rights belong to AGR?

Ganassi's last experience with the No. 1 may well have sealed the deal also.

The rights to number 1 belong to AGR.

Uhhhhhh, I don't think so (but they may have changed it when I wasn't looking). The rights to #1 belong to the defending driving champion.

I sort of hate to mention this, but when you win a championship, you want to get that number on the car as soon as possible, mostly because you're proud and the sponsors like to see it too. I wonder what number Renna was using when he tested Ganassis's car and if that has anything to do with it. Nobody is more suspicious than racers.

Remember back in '90, Emmo drove the #1 even though he won the '89 championship with Patrick and raced the '90 with Penske.

Good example but of course different organization. Don't know if IRL's #1 rule is the same or different.

Tony Renna was in the 10 car, and i know his dad is still a part of the team. THis is a good pont, i think they are keeping the 10 as a tribute to Renna....

Ganassi had the #10 with Scheckter in 2003 before Renna was hired..

Whether that's true or not, I don't think it's a good reason to force that number on Dan. I really wish he'd drive with the #1 on his car for next season - seeing the #1 lead the pack into turn one at Indy would be fantastic.

His Father was at the Homestead test when Darren Manning first tested for TCGR, he was also at the homestead race, He did have share quite a bit with me on both occasions, FWIW Tony's girl friend does work for TCGR in the grand Am series. I believe there is a lot in common between Tony and Dan

While this quote is technically highly accurate, I believe what you really meant was superstitious.

                            Or maybe not.

They were teammates at Pac West, right? I remember both of them driving, but I don't remember if they were there at the same time.
