  • Panasonic Plasma TV commercial

Has anyone seen it? You hear an engine revving and Kosuke Matsuura's car comes into view, then rolls off. The commercial closes with a high-speed flyby exhaust note.

    Panasonic

IT'S ABOUT TIME A SPONSOR USES INDYCARS IN A NEW TV ADVERTISEMENT!

Where were the commercials by Chevrolet? Red Bull? Pennzoil? And yet they ***** about ROI.

Kannan has been featured on 7-11 products and signs at my local store in Baltimore..

You take the good with the bad. I'm no expert, but I wonder how much Pioneer and Panasonic involvement there would be without Honda? Coincidentally, Pioneer and Panasonic are generally considered to sit at the top of the heap in terms of plasma panels, so in that sense it's quite a coup to see them both in IndyCar. Now, if we could just get Texas Instruments and DLP out of NASCAR

Um Bruce, are you sure that's a Panasonic ad?

It sounds an awful lot like a Pioneer ad with Buddy Rice's car.

Hope I'm wrong, because if it was the Pioneer ad you saw, then they may begin to wonder whether they're even getting through to the serious fans.

And then again, unless someone from Pioneer reads this board, it won't matter either way.

Sounds like good with the good, to me. We had GMAC with Chevy engines. Who else did Toyota bring with them?

Maybe it's a double-edged sword, but sponsorship is sponsorship. If nothing else, the visibility and promotion in print, TV, and local events of the last few years at least gave all the teams in the League a chance to make some inroads- even the "little guys".

You are correct. I did not phrase my post properly.

I'm pretty sure it would've been a Panasonic commercial. The No. 55 and Kosuke have been ever present on all of their graphics recently. Here is a link to Visual Apex an online retailer that moves a lot of Panasonic plasma panels. Note the 55 in all the Panasonic graphics. We even see the 8 and either the 3 or the 6 in another graphic.

Dang it, it was Pioneer...or was it Panasonic? I must have been in shock.

With all the B2B involved in sponsorships I was surprised & disappointed that I couldn't find a Panasonic or Pioneer car receiver with XM built in.

Well put. Say what you will about some of these teams, but they have brought in some good sponsors that have promoted their drivers.

Also, Toyota did bring Pioneer Japan which was primary on Tora Takagi in 2003 & 2004, and associate on Ryan Briscoe in 2005. Just to clarify, Pioneer on the Rahal cars is Pioneer USA.

                              OK. Clarification:

There are Panasonic & Pioneer receivers with XM built in & I bought one today. Good thing I didn't take the word of the twit who told me they didn't make 'em.
