  • Perfectly good race track being used for storage

Why on earth aren't we racing in Kentucky?

I still can't believe SMI took the Nascar Cup race from there and moved it to Atlanta in the middle of July.

They probably make good money with low overhead by being Fords storage unit.

And they'll still be bumper to bumper getting out...unless they take the back roads.

The original plan was to build an entertainment complex next to the Atlanta track with casinos, restaurants, and I think an amusement park.

Politics then got in the way.

Interpreted what that means is the politicians lined up with their hands held out.

Didn't the fans at Kentucky complain about the long line going in and coming out of the oval? I also remember there were issues with weepers but I also remember someone telling me that they resurfaced the whole thing as well.

                    Not in this case.

Yes, and state added a 3rd lane and improved the 2nd exit. It wasn't an issue after the 1st nascar event.

Well, it wasn't really the opening night, right? The first Cup date, but the track had been open awhile. And well, what happened happened. Easy to say "we fixed it" after the fact, but when you turn off a lot of customers by making them effectively abandon their cars, they aren't likely to trust you.

I have a truck on order since April. Its nearly built but on chip hold. I'm guessing it's sitting there.

Concerning the track, how long can a track sit before nature takes over and its no longer feasible to bring back?
