  • Anybody want to apologize to TK and AGR?

Unless there is a massive coverup inside the ICS, looks like a lot of keyboard racers were wrong.

Even if Tony gave it away, please show me in the rules where it's a problem.

I can't believe anyone still cares about this. Oh, not to dis your thread, but I didn't care about it even when it happened. Drivers have been giving their teammates win and positions through the entire history of the sport. No one remembers the Bruce and Denny show?

"There is no conclusive evidence," said John Griffin, the IRL's vice president of public relations. "The matter is closed."
I'm sure it was an exhaustive investigation.

Brian - "Anyone want to bother AGR about telemetry data now that the season's over?"

TG - "Ummmm, er, ahhhh. I think we should let sleeping dogs lie."

Brian - "Good enough for me, someone wanna let Griffin know the investigation is over and we found nothing. Have him put out a release, he's good at that kinda thing."

IRL flunkie - "Right away sir."

That's all it takes to convince you, a PR sound bite???? I don't even like the majority of the "keyboard racers" you're referring to, but there's no doubt they were right on this one.

I really miss the days when reporters would ASK QUESTIONS, especially the obvious ones, like "...did you check the car's telemetry?" I guess it's just so much easier for the Cavins of the world to just type what they're told and hit SAVE.

No. Even after the "extensive investigstion", I still don't believe he didn't do it. I don't even think the "extensive investigation" convinced Dario.

Tony should have let Dario win by a "nose" to make it one of the closest finishes ever...

But NOOoo!, his ego just had to let everyone know he was really the winner and graciously gave it up for whatever reason.

He didn't have to make it so obvious, let him have a fairytale finish...now it just ruins it forever.

              He let Dario win.

              So what?

Well, to me and my TIVO it certainly looked like TK slowed down . . .

If he had been honest and said something like "Yes, I really wanted to let Dario have a big win, unchallenged" I would have gained respect for him, I just am not buying the Star-News report based upon a press release!

How would telemetry tell if he pushed the button on purpose or not?

Telemetry would tell us whether he actually did push the button or merely let off the gas.

Which is what it sounded like on that in-car. I have absolutely no faith the IRL front office would ever look into the event nor probably even care.

Agreed. I also think Tony screwed up a last minute attempt at a photo pass and over ran Dario. It was Dario's race as far as they were concerned however it panned out.

and in real sports that's called fixing the results and is illegal. Sadly I think today Hemingway would say there are only two real sports.

Besides, if Tony was able to pass Dario at the end it was NOT Dario's race.

What would make me feel better is if the powers that be treated the series like a real professional sport.

Sounds similar to the conversation that took place while investigating whether Paul Tracy won the 500 or not...
