  • Tribute to Danica

    Not from me.

Argent has a 2/3 page full-color ad in today's Wall Street Journal. A12
"Gentlemen, Start Your Excuses". Celebrating her Rookie of the Year award. With a rear view of her car's wing and tires.

Very nicely done. And in the same section as the cover story about the tire manufacturers' expenses in Formula One.

    Danica's big, figuratively speaking.

Negative comments about her on forums are of miniscule importance, but that doesn't stop folks with miniscule opinions from expressing them.

How many other sponsors of race drivers, ro racing teams, "celebrated" the accomplishments of their drivers. or teams, in the Wall Street Journal, or the Saturday Shopper of that matter.

I would say not only the IRL but all the racing series owe Argent a great big thank you for excellent publicity that didn't cost them a dime, and they certainly did nothing to earn.

Come to think of it open wheel race fans might tip their hats to Argent because their chosen sport certainly needs all the help it can get.

In the Wall Street Journal? Generally, you want to see as little skin as possible of the people there.

Actually, there is a small head shot of her smiling in her race uniform in the lower corner of the ad.

Hey, if you got the kind of exposure Argent did from Danica, you'd be celebrating too. They have every reason to be happy with her.

                  Hey Bombardier E142,

Maybe the other, drivers, and teams, should try a little harder to see if their sponsors can get what they pay the big bucks for, Damica surely proves that winning isn't everything.

I seem to remember Wolbur Shaw had a "pet"lion that recieved a lot of ink for a while, hell Barney Oldfield even made a cigar stun famous.

The IndyCar series and George family certainly gave Danica a platform to be recogonized and celebrated. Of course, if she had won the OWCC Nicaraguan Grand Prix, or a feature race at the Chili Bowl, I'm sure she would have still gotten the WSJ advertisement.

Without the ICS, Rahal might have gotten her a modeling position at one of the hospitality tents.

Well, she did win ROTY, I'm not sure what else you want from her. But, Argent put their sponsorship on Danica's driving suit and car for the same reason every sponsor in NASCAR, CCWS, IRL, NHRA, Grand-Am, etc does for every other professional driver. So people will see it. I'd say they got their money's worth and then some. I'm sure they'd be happier if she won a race and will be disapointed if she doesn't, but for now I'm sure they're happy they're the only OW racing sponsor in the US with a recognisable driver.

But, It doesn't matter what you say about me and Danica, just as long as you spell our names right.

She won the ROTY but really she just got handed it by just showing up with the works Honda. In the 3 horse race Briscoe and Enge didn't have much of a chance with Toyota and Cosworth as competition. If I was her I would be pounding my chest over the ROTY, when you look at it closely she really didn't have that much competition for the title.

The Chevrolet didn't cost Enge a chance at ROTY...not starting three races did...

That's great to hear. Positive press for the IRL and Danica and yet people still find a way to shoot it down. Give it up.

For what it's worth, had he had those starts, he would be the RoY...IMO of course. If that's shooting her down, so be it.
