  • Favorite Race and Moment of the 2005 season

Race: Indy 500, perfect weather, huge crowd, Wheldon great drive, and Danica making history..

Second: Milwaukee, Hornish storming past Mr Judd to take the victory away from the AGR boys..

Moment: the final restart of the Indy 500 when Danica took the lead back.. i never heard a crowd get louder then that..
"Paff has been closer to the mark than anyone will give him credit for."

    Richard Kimble 11/18/2010

"Paff is far more right than any of you will EVER give him credit for.

As non politically correct and un IndyCar friendly as it is, it's the truth. "

    St. Petersburg...the IRL goes modern

Moment: Wheldon retaking Danica and putting her in her place...which turned out to be 4th.

Also, seeing Scott (Dixon) back in Victory Lane.

Favorite Race: Texas, seeing Panther and Tomas Scheckter spank the ex-CART super teams.

Favorite Moment(s): Whenever Buddy Lazier was on the track, especially in if he was in the lead pack.

      Not that you asked, but...

Least Favorite #1: Seeing Kanaan give the California race to Dario, then having to listen to Ashley gush about how great a driver her husband is. (Is Kanaan related to what's-his-name, you know, that Ferrari F1 driver who gave the USGP to his teammate? Maybe they went to the same driving school, or took the same ethics class.)

Least Favorite #2: Seeing Danica wipe out two Panther cars at once at Indy, and then benefit from the yellow she caused, and then having that topped of by hearing Rahal say, "No harm, no foul" No harm to him... a bonus to Danica... and two wrecked cars for Panther. No harm no foul my ^$$.
No one is completely useless... you can always be a bad example.

Um, I think when I'm in this idiom, I sometimes get a bit, uh, sort of carried away.

Favorite Race: Always the 500. There is no other racing on the planet.

Favorite Moment: Nashville (since I'm a huge Cheever fan) when Carp and Barron were in front if only for a moment. I didn't have high expectations going into the season. The owners smile will resonate in my mind for awhile.

Jonathan Byrd going to the Speedway on the last full practice day. (best for our family)

Race: The 500. So action packed, especially near the end, not even ABC's lousy camera shots and Todd Harris' hyperbole could ruin it.

Second: The limited amount of time I got to enjoy watching open wheels in anger at Watkins Glen. If we must have road courses, let them all be like the Glen, a test of skill for the driver AND an entertaining show for the fan.

              Moment: Why play favorites?
"I didn't hear a single comment about airboxes, "carbashians", or how terrible the car looked. I did see dozens and dozens of little kids in awe of the speed and how cool the cars looked. We should learn from our children."

Why can I only have 1 favorite moment and race?

I can think of at least 17 of them.

                    Race: Indy

Moment: Phoenix restart, Hornish drops the hammer to take the checkers as Dario taps the wall.

Was it Milwaukee where Horish lost it up in the marbles on the final laps and still managed to come back and beat Dario? If so, that was my favorite.

Moment - Danica passing Wheldon on the restart at the Indy 500. Made the season for me, and kept me watching for the rest of the year. By far the loudest I've ever heard a crowd at Indy.

I'd say also that the 500 this year was the best race I've ever been to.
