If they can be from any era and the driver at his peak, I would take Bill Vukovich, Sr., A. J. Foyt, and Rick Mears. If I had to take active drivers, I would take Tony Stewart, Davey Hamilton and Troy Regier (all of whom have driven the Triguerio Supermodified at one time or another and all of whom are proven winners).
A good race driver, given adequate seat time, can drive any well prepared racecar on any track surface or configuration at competitive speeds. Remember, I said a GOOD race driver!!!

For me it would be Rick Mears, Bobby Unser, and Al Unser Sr.

                        Parnelli, Al sr., Wilbur Shaw.
Back up drivers and they also could be the starters.
                        AJ,
Louie Meyer, Had a tough time with him on this one he should probably be the top driver here.
and the most underated one that ever drove there Freddie Agabashion.
Sort those guys out any way you want to,They dont get any better than them.

Looks like the Foyt-Mears deal is popular... lets toss a Gary B. (vintage 1971)

Can't be done without leaving someone out. Gerald actually has my list, but nobody mentioned Parnelli, Clark, Donahue or Billy Arnold among others.
Some people will do nearly anything in order to be able to not do anything.
