  • OT-Amy East

Just finished watching the Chili Bowl. It was a great night of midget racing.
Every time I see Amy East I become even more impressed with her reporting, not to mention that she is fairly pleasing to the eye as well. Wasn't she a trackside announcer at Indy's 16th street Speedway or am I confusing her with someone else.
My wife has only missed one Indy 500 in twenty years of marriage but she isn't a real fan of racing. Wouldn't it be nice to have a wife that can talk racing with the best of them like Amy East?

Amy should have been on the VERY short list to join the IRL reporting team. They let a good one get away.

Yes, she did work the races at 16th Street. She is the daughter of Bob East. She is married to a driver in the CTS and does pit reporting there. She would have the same conflicts as Jerry Punch, who loves IMS and the IRL as much as we do. Jerry will be at Indy when not doing CTS, perhaps Amy could be there too.

Amy ought to be a part of the IRL line up of pit or trackside reporters. I figured that she was related to Bob East in some way. I remeber her form the 16th Street Raceway. She came up and watched some of the racing by me before heading back to do some more interviews after the heat. She was so comfortable reporting and she seemed to have a genuin knowledge of the sport.

NASCAR Craftsman truck driver Terry Cook has it nice, with Amy for a wife.

In 1998 I was working for an IRL team
                that fired the driver mid-season.

The team owner asked me to act as a scout
of sorts, seeking my input for a replacement.

I remember telling my wife the story at the
dinner table one evening when she said, "you
really ought to try to contact this kid
that's kicking butt in F3000 this year."

                "Juan Pablo Montoya."

As it turned out, she had been watching way
too much Speedvision while I was on the road.

Great story! Actually, it sounds like she was watching exactly enough Speedvision, to me.
