Not that much, because it isn't the McLaren that you think it is. This is McLaren Performance Technology of Michigan; it's not associated with the F1 team. (It was a long time ago, but they got split up -- kind of like Rolls-Royce.)
The only question mark is the fact that Comptech had signed up to be a Toyota rebuilder prior to the buyout, and I haven't heard for sure that that will remain the same.
Just another approved builder, what's the problem? Maybe now we understand the Blair move to Speedway, we know that Chevy doesn't pass on the latest good stuff to builders who will build elsewhere next season.
Its interesting that McLaren stopped building IRL engines, and then went out and purchased an IRL engine builder.
What is really surprising is that Comptech isn't with Honda next year. They had a very long history with Honda in IMSA, and fielded a Honda for Parker Johnstone in CART.
