first, let me say rick mears has to be in the hall of racing fame for his on track accomplishments.

that said let me address another isssue.
when you live in a "fishbowl" it doesn't take much of a slip to make an issue out of any "normal" behavior. who is to say what is normal for whom??

let us not judge lest we shall be judged, eh?

obviously, the man was on the top of his game when he needed to be or else we wouldn't even know his name; and when he had a "slip" it was because he was so d*** good that we heard about it.

only those who never achieve the "fishbowl" status, can ever go on incognito and through life with some kind of privacy.

i am wishing rick the very best in dealing with his unique situation; and in finding continued happiness in his life.

I tend to agree with this.

The question that comes to mind for me is whether Al was at the same treatment place as Rick since they appear to have been in at about the same time. Also, did the problems of one have any impact on how the other viewed their problem?

Aw, Mario, bleep. Read it. Rick said he was in in late April and after the "500." Al was in in July. Rick and Chris Mears have been beautiful, beautiful friends over the years. I just have tears in my eyes about the whole deal tonight.

nobody can change unless they want to change.
i think that was a pretty cheap shot directed towards Lil Al.
he got help.
