  • This will become familiar

Seems those Penske guys know a thing or two about running on short tracks, even when they have to dodge bozos like Rick Treadway.

The thing I don't get, Sif, is your attitude of smugness like you owned the team or something. I don't think you could point to anybody on this board that didn't expect Penske to be good. But congratulations on your big win, I guess...

Hey,this is just ink for the IRL,so let's hope we see more of this, this year.

Penske is a league positive,no spin required.

unless you've got to compete against him, of course.

I am sure the Penske guys did not have to worry about back markers in Cart.

It is all part of racing.
If the league is not going to shift their stance on the fees I would imagine all of the ovals would start being replaced by "chamber of commerce financially supported" TV infomercials dressed up like a car race for different city centers across the USA.

I'd certainly not mind if the action of the first three cars on the last 12 laps could become familiar... only, let's make it 25 cars for all the laps, OK ?

You expect a lot of lapped cars on a bullring. It's just the nature of the beast, when a lap only lasts 20 seconds. I loved this race!

Actually Zman that's not true, I seem to remember that before Penske went back to Indy last year several people thought he would have a much tougher time at success in the IRL than what he has had in CART .One can only hope.

Maybe there were some, but nowhere near a majority. And certainly not me.

Once again, todays victory was for IRL drivers. Penske no longer competes in CART so quit bringing it up

Hey, I like it! Welcome some great talent to the IRL. That Helio can liven things right up. He lived the whole race to make that one pass it would sound from him. But it was a good show.

Should give Treadway the Harrington award for plain obtuseness. But without the perenial backmarkers I guess the Hornishes and Penske drivers would not stand out so vividly.

Familiarity like this is not bad. The whole field could look ahead and see what they had to do.

Who proclaimed it as such? I seem to recall Homestead as a win for Team Panther.

Before the giddy young interlopers get their loins all aflutter, please let me remind y'all that this was the SECOND race of a 15-race season.

We've got a ways to go.

Does anyone else think this little concocted 'rivalry' might be good for the sport by deflecting attention away from having folks argue over the same old junk we have been for the past seven year?

the panther team appears to be right there with penske, but they've had a few years in this league to figure everything out. sammy probably would have won this one too if (big if) he hadn't lost 6th gear -- of course penske didn't lose any gears.

I'd be surprised if the rest of the field gets closer to penske over the course of this season. more likely it will be just the opposite, and penske'll end up sandbagging to keep it close enough so that everyone doesn't get too upset about the situation.

IMO when one team wins all the time it tends to get a little monotonous, which is why I always root against the Marlboro Multinational Money Machine.
