Congratulations to Sam Hornish, Panther4, and the rest of the Pennzoil Panther crew for being the first team to repeat as IRL champions. It was an amazing season. To win 5 of 15 races against such stiff competition is unbelievable. Great job!
Congratulations to Helio Castroneves and all of Marlboro Team Penske for a great win at Indy and for coming oh so close to the winning the cup, and to Gil de Ferran for his skill and bravery... had to admire that positive attitude today. You guys are a truly classy operation from top to bottom. Thanks for joining the party! Hope you stick around.
Kudos to Alex Barron and Blair Racing for a superb first season, and a great win at Nashville. You're an inspiration to underdogs everywhere. Thanks to Ray-o-Vac for stepping up to the plate for these guys. They're worth the long-term investment.
Airton-- congrats on your first win! Great to see the #14 back in the winner's circle. Keep that portly Texan of yours up front and out of trouble, you hear?
A big shout-out to Buddy Rice and Tony Renna for stepping into rides under difficult circumstances and proving yourselves to be worthy competitors. I trust we'll see you both again next year, running up front.
Al. Kudos for handling yourself with dignity through an ugly ordeal, and making a great, great comeback. Keep it straight and narrow.
Jaques. We missed you. Get back in that car and teach 'em a thing or two.
Vitor-- I discovered that crow pie tastes OK with the right side dishes. I really do have Vitor-Mania now. Just keep listening to Dog, and you'll be OK.
Richie-- get well soon. You definitely earned a ride for next year.
Buddy and Team Hemelgarn-- it was a rough one, I'm sure. But you scrapped your way back into contention the last few races. Here's to a smoother '03! I'll enjoy your return to Victory Lane.
Mr. George and Mr. Barnhart-- thanks for the greatest show on earth. There's a long way to go, but you're doing pretty darn well so far. Keep up the good work! Hey-- you don't need me to tell you that you made the right call at Indy. But I'll say it anyway.
Cheers, everybody!
