Speedway and Menard seem to be the class of the field, Roush build AJ's engines, wonder what impact TWR will have.....

Yes they are Eric, and have been one of the earliest announced. After all, Foyt has to have his personal engine builder, wouldn't want any of his "personal speed secrets" to leak out, along with the oil!

In my opinion, Chevy is doing things the right way, it is better to have five builders looking at your product and improving it. The feedback will be priceless. It will be great to have five experts looking at ways to solve problems that crop up. The competition between the "selected five" to be the best can only help.

I think all the Infiniti teams with the exception of Buhl will follow TWR...looks like Chevy will be the engine of choice in 2003...Toyota and Honda are starting from scratch. Wonder why AJ uses Roush engines they are down on HP. It would have been great to see Dodge, Porche, or some other major manufacturer join the series...when will Ford be joining the show...

I5, early on, Foyt used other builders but felt that he had special requirements for his engines that he wanted the builder to incorporate, but not want to have them share with the other customers. In the end, he went with Roush.

Up until mid 1999, AJ used KaTech engines, and they sere the class of the IRL- lots of power, and no blown engines. Kenny won 3 races in a row, and the Championship. Billy Boat won something like 7 poles in one year, and still has the track record at several tracks.

The Roush engines are obviously down on power.
If you do what you've always done...

you'll get what you've always gotten.

Whether its true or not, I read at that time AJ was PO'ed because they were giving his engine secrets to their other customers.
