  • New IRL Team?

I know there are always hopefuls, but I just read this in Chris Economaki's column from the March 20th edition of NSSN:
SRL standout Troy Regier is likely the next grad to go IRL as John Chandler of Houston says he will field a first-class effort for him next year.
Are there any readers here who know anything about this deal? Thanks.

Haven't they been "talking" about this for 2 years now?

Regier talked about really wanting to move up soon. He's done all there is to do in a SuperMod, and IMO has the talent.

I hadn't heard of this deal specifically, but he did say he has been working on a couple IRL rides. He's a clean cut, well spoken guy. I think he'd be a nice addition, let's hope it happens.

The old rumor was the Ken Norton deal. This is different (and hopefully better).

Interesting. Regier told me last year at Phoenix he was working with an owner from Texas to run in the IRL.

I hope it works for him. Good guy with loads of talent who has won a ton of races.

And still Ray, Dismore, and Fisher sit around while the unproven ones get all the opportunites...
Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who is the Keenest of them all?

Ray, Dismore, and Fisher have had shots, and people are choosing not to pick them up based on whatever they demonstrated (either real or perceived) during those shots.

Regier has been winning races and hustling deals to try to make this go together for at least three years. Still, it's not a done deal.

I'd say in this case the unproven one is not necessarily unproven, and that he's making his own opportunities.

Yep. If Regier gets a shot before Ray, Diz, or Fisher, I have ZERO problem with that. Say the same thing about Kruseman, Hines, or Drake, too.

I hope Rieger pulls it off. This is exactly the kind of racer that I always root for. Someone who shows that they that something special in what they race. These are the kind of guys that I like to see move to the big time.

How can you include Fisher with Ray and Dismore? Ray and Dismore have won, Fisher has not.

Ray is an IRL champion and has the most ever poles. If he can't find a ride, then who can.
