  • Jack Arute on the radio yesterday

Was repeating the rumor about Richard Childress taking Kevin Harvick to Indy this year for the "500".

He said it was the hottest rumor at Fontana.

I'm not a huge fan of NASCAR, but I do watch races whenever I'm not watch a CART or IRL race...Kevin would be such an awesome add to the 500 field...I can't imagine the look on his face after his first time out in the car...lol...they'd better hurry up and put something together though...ROP is just a couple weeks away!

Fine with me as long as someone explains to him that the WWF mentality stays in the fendered faction. Bristol was an embarrasment to motorsports IMO (taken as a whole, not just Harvick)

I hope the deal doesn't go through. Harvick just sort of... I don't like his approach to racing.

Shouldn't Kevin or any other driver aspiring to race at Indy have at least one race in an Indy car under their belt? It is one thing to test and run ROP, but to race wheel to wheel is quite different.

Greg Ray's first Indy car race was at IMS.

Come to think of it, maybe you're on to something.

No weather forecasts are ever guaranteed, even if confidence level is high. Even a 99% probability will miss 1% of the time. That's the best anybody can do when predicting highly complex events.

We don't even know if he could make the race. He has no formula car experience. Imagine the car be a little tight, and he askes the crew to take some wedge out! He would have a whole lot of learning to do first.

                3rd post...

I'd like to see it, but I don't think we'll be able to live with debdrake for a while if it does...

I hope it happens. Harvick and Childress would draw more attention to Indy than Dario, Papis, Tracy, daMatta, etc... could ever dream about.

Whether it is good or bad, they have a loyal following. (I think Harvick would do just fine in an Indy Car).

That would be interesting, but I highly doubt that Kevin would be able to successfully qualify given that he has never even tested an Indy car or any rear-engined forumla car for that matter. But I would respect the **** out of the guy if he gave it a shot.

The Indy field will be so deep this year that it's going to be tough for people like Barron, Luyendyk, Vasser, Dare, etc. to qualify. There will be some big names that miss the show.

We should know within a couple of weeks. Don't all rookies have to do the rookie test at Indy in the middle of April?
