Smart move by Andretti; you can't have a team with all old drivers.

Does this eliminate the potential for two Panther cars for 2003?

I know a second car was based on finding funding, but should Weldon's departure serve as a fairly major hint as to Panther's 2003 plans?

I've heard 2nd or 3rd or 4th hand that Panther was looking for a deal which could include other drivers. I think Jewls even mentioned that she heard that Panther was interested in Renna while Kelley was interested in Wheldon. So overall, I don't think this signing makes a big difference in a bid for a 2nd Panther ride.

I think Panther, and most definitly, Chevy, want them to run a 2nd car. Chevy also wants Menard and Hemelgarn to run a 2nd car as well. Panther had several drivers in mind for a possible 2nd car. They wanted Wheldon, but he decided that Mikey's team was the better option. Probably will be getting a nice salary from them as well. With Sam, he would always play 2nd fiddle with Panther. Maybe Dan thinks that won't be the case with AG.

What are the details of the deal?

                4th car?

                Michael's car after Indy?

                Test driver?

                Help...

The article said test driver for now, but that he could fill in for Andretti should he retire after Indy 2003. One would also think he would get a shot at Indy 2003 as well in a 4th car, but that wasn't mentioned.

Naw - Tom already announced his two car lineup of Little Al and Scott Sharp.

                              Renna's gone, IIRC.
