  • IPS the Night before the 500.

This combined with the midget race should make for a can't miss show.

Sounds like IRP will be my first IPS race if it solidifies.

Great Idea! The Formula 2000's and the
Mazda cars used to put on a whale of a
show on that track, and great fun to
watch the Midgets, too. Throw in the
fact that we camp every year at IRP and
walk in from across the Dragstrip and
it's a Definate Show for next year.

Has any thought been given to having the IPS cars run at a few other tracks outside the scope of IRL races?

That might be a good thing to consider.

Anybody heard how Jason's doing these days?

Defender, I think that would be a great idea. I think if they could run at a few more tracks with the USAC boys/girls could be quite the ticket. Plus it would give driver's more seat time and quicker climb to the IRL.

Hey, how about a race at Bristol with the PRO SERIES? Just kidding, but there are a lot of other tracks that could host this series.

Geeeze, what is the track record at IRP? Those IPS cars will shatter it what ever it is.

Defender, I know that idea was discussed here before, and I am all for it. I believe the IPS must branch out over the country and race wherever feasible. This is your minor league system, use it as such, and recruit the short track fans to this series. I honestly believe that the IPS could put on some radical races and earn their fans.

Here is a thought. Why not try to book the IPS cars as an opener for NASCAR. Some place the IRL runs also like Texas or Fontana.

I quite honestly have not seen an IPS race yet so I a do not know what kind of a show they put on but if it is to the IRL what Busch is the Winston Cup I think it would be a good chance to expose some people to open wheel racing. If they saw the show and liked it they might come back to see the big league.

IPS cars on a short track sound like nothing more than a race of battleships on a mill pond. These are very long wheelbase cars and they weren't designed for short tracks. They're heavy and the engines don't have much torque so they're not likely to have stupendous acceleration out of the turns like a sprint car does. Also, short track racing tends to involve a certain amount of pushing and shoving, things that get expensive when dealing with carbon fiber construction.I really don't think this is a good idea.
