  • 2003 Silly Season

Rev-ed, thought I'd try to start off the silly season info. I'm pretty much just guessing from rumors. You do a much better job by getting facts or better rumors, but here is a start. I think silly season should include chassis and engine choices as well as drivers this off-season. I've tried to include that also. Season isn't over yet and I'm already excited about next year!

Maybe somebody could let you post this on their website in HTML...?

Hate to say it, but 7th Gear's silly season page was pretty good before they all got clinically depressed and quit updating it prior to this season...

I doubt Racing Professionals or Indy Regency will come out next year. As for the IPS, I heard somewhere that Gary Peterson will retire but he will put a younger driver in the car.
If I were Ed Carpenter and you were a lady...

        Coach -

A nice start. I decided to hold off until the 2002 season was over to post a 2003 Silly Season List. Two reasons: (1) Lots of rumors floating around which no one wants to confirm. (2) Lack of personal time for me over the past three weeks.

I promise to post some next week. . . after I get the Pick 5 all totalled.

Good, because that's where Ricky belongs.
For a few million Yens, Honda can have this space too!

Robin Miller, I know I'm not supposed to say that name here, said that Foyt is a good possibility for Toyota. Everyone else has been placing him in the Chevy camp.

Got my Speed Sport News today. In the classified section in the back their is a little ad from Rev 1 Racing (Johncox IPS team). They are seeking a driver with funding to compete in a second IPS car for 2003.

Here is a great site if you like DETAILED IRL info.

Here is Dave's silly season list
                      http://fly.hiwaay.net/~cornutt/irl_silly.html

Tip of the hat to Dave for the hard work!
If the league is not going to shift their stance on the fees I would imagine all of the ovals would start being replaced by "chamber of commerce financially supported" TV infomercials dressed up like a car race for different city centers across the USA.

Supposedly, Cheever said yesterday he WILL be running the TWR engine next season. No word on who badges.

Oh, I also heard the IPS field is full.

I think he said that himself, when starting the team. Something to the effect that he was going to drive it himself for these few races, then put another driver in for next year.
