  • Hornish DNF

When was the last time Panther didn't finish a race with Hornish at the wheel? The reliability of the cars this team builds is unreal.

    They haven't.

I would imagine the last time Panther had a DNF was when Goodyear was driving for them.

        Never....

Hornish has finsihed every IRL race while driving for Panther. All 16 races....and he has been the points leader for all of those races as well.

Not only has he not DNF'ed, but last year he ran all but 7 laps ALL SEASON.

Man, I wonder how much Panther had budgeted for crashes. Sam's gotta be saving them a bundle... and making them a bundle.

I sure hope Pennzoil gets on the Sam bandwagon in a big way. I wonder if they know what they have...

I know people will say its good preperation, good people, etc, etc, etc but sooner or later this guy's luck has got to run out.

IIRC the number is either 22 or 27 straight.
Quite a string when you consider all the potential reasons for not finishing a race.
If the league is not going to shift their stance on the fees I would imagine all of the ovals would start being replaced by "chamber of commerce financially supported" TV infomercials dressed up like a car race for different city centers across the USA.

I remember at Nashville last year that Hornish dropped a cylinder near the end and fell all the way down to 7th. But he finished the race.

He also spun at Indy but then set the fastest lap and finished the race.

Those are the only two close calls that I remember.
No weather forecasts are ever guaranteed, even if confidence level is high. Even a 99% probability will miss 1% of the time. That's the best anybody can do when predicting highly complex events.

I never wish bad luck on a guy, but if Sam don't have one or two DNF's, the points battle is going to be over pretty quick.
