  • The Big Question

Will the new engines and chassis for 2003 produce the kind of racing that we saw in 2002?

I have a question for the engine gurus out there. Will the lower rev limit affect the abilility of a driver to complete a pass? The reason I ask is if the rev limit is lowered to 10400, does the hp peak necessarily lower the same amount? I know it could be made to peak at 9800, but if the most hp can be generated at 10300, there will be little room for the rpm increase needed for a driver to get a run on the driver in front.

You pay CamKing enough and he'll build you 4 camshafts that will let you pass Roger's boys ANYTIME you want.

While you're answering that one Cammy, how does the aero affect the ability to complete a pass, such as Unser/Hornish @ Chicago?

I have my doubts and concerns. Already, tith only one engine doing in-car, on track testing we hear of thmh speed increases, who knows if this will be the best engine. The series seems conmmitted to hold speeds down to that which is lower then Indy, and they want to keep Indy under 230. At what point, using winds and wickers, does that render the car as ineffective as the Handford made the CART cars. At what speed does it take to render the cars un-passable, like the CART cars. Then there is the issue of decreased downforce in the 2003 cars, no IMO the racing begins to suffer.

...so has anyone seen or recieved a 'new' chassis yet??

I'm curious as to what the major changes & differences are......besides the fuel-filler being on both sides.

IF next years engines have more power that is only contained by adding drag, the cars will be even more likely to ride the rev limiter and the packs will only become larger.
