Just wanted to see how many here are fans and how many aren't now.

I wonder why a person would bother posting at TF if they didn't like the IRL?............or does the pole need a "other" category? To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 11 posts.

Perhaps many of us do need to go. Perhaps many of us are hanging onto to something that never was to be in the first place. Perhaps many of us put too much stock into Tony Georges words in the early days. Perhaps many of us were very happy with the IRL at one point and have become disillusioned as it's changed(many of us would say not for the better) over the last couple of years. Perhaps many of us have invested in the league with our dollars and hearts and are sad to see our drivers and teams priced out of the league.
I know many of us are pretty confused why we're being asked why we care and why we're still hanging around.jZink

Yes. Still.
no racing in the Meadowlands parking lot.
no Andrew Craig.
no "U.S. 500" on Memorial Day weekend.
some sense of history before 1979 and gratitude for the drivers that raced before that time. i hated that CART lacked that.
I could go on but I won't.

...with some 3226 posts in about 3-1/2 years, averaging to 2.65 posts a day, I better like the IRL.
Otherwise I would have some severe problems spending this much time and posts for something I don't like.
I don't think there's a person in their right mind that would spend time & post at a place they don't like......ooops, hope I didn't offend anyone. I forgot we have a few resident 'non-fans' here!a bad day at the race track beats a good day at work

I like the racing, I like the folks I know who work on the teams, I enjoyed my short stint on a team.
But....what I sense is a lack of direction in "management" in that they are so focused on winning over the evil empire and TG's focus on his family asset that they seem to have forgotten the business end of running the league.
Ecclestone and France were visionaries that possessed no "assets" like a racetrack to parlay into a fight for supremecy in OW racing. Ecclestone and France each had an idea they were able to sell to others and in return for following the two of them, the followers got things in return. Like a piece of the action. They created wealth.
This is not happening in the IRL. To have a vision, one must be a visionary.

I didn't vote because I couldn't say yes and I don't want to say no.
I am still a strong supporter and fan of Indy. That does not mean I like what I see happening there. I love the tradition. My memories of Indy date back to my very young childhood. I am an old man now by most peoples standards. It is difficult to let go of something that has been so dear for so many years.
All, most, many, or some of us who post negative or critical thoughts on this board are not anti IRL. In our opinion the IRL is not what we thought it was born to be. It is not headed in the right direction. It is beoming uninteresting. We are diillusioned because we misunderstood what Tony was telling us. It is very possibly our fault that we thought the IRL was going to be something different than it is turning out to be.
The fact we are critical does not mean we are not IRL fans. It does not mean we don't want IRL to succeed. It may mean we think something is broke. We are frustrated because we don't see anyone trying to fix it. So sometimes we try to fix it in our posts.
All the news and rumors indicate a contiuing of the CARTerizing of IRL. The new drivers are foreign road racers, more CART teams rumored to be moving to IRL with manufacturer support, road racing, street racing, international racing. This is not what I understood IRL was going to be about.
Some of us do not like IndyCART. We remain IRL fans because we have some hope it will become Indycar once again. And we still love Indy. As I have posted before, I will not attend any IRL races in the future. I will continue to attend Indy. At least until the field falls to the same no. of cars as the typical IRL race. The state of the Indy500 should be enough to make anyone question the direction Mr. George has taken us.

Since I only went to my first 500 in 1995, I was only peripherally aware of the 'split' and certainly what was before that.
Yes, I would like to see more, younger American drivers, but I do appreciate the Helios, Vitors and Gil's for what they add as well.
Don't care much for Road Races...But DO NOT want to see street courses.
Is it really Tony's fault that short track drivers have not been too successful in the league? I see it all as an evolution and try as we might, no man can dictate what the end result will be.
Love the racing...I like the IRL just fine, Thank You!
Can't wait for the 100th Indy in 2015!!!!Camp and Brew Did Not Make Indianapolis
It's Indianapolis that made Camp and Brew what it is.
