  • Why the IRL will succeed

The Indianapolis 500... The sight of the flag man furiously waving the green flag. The sound of 33 cars diving in to the first turn. The feeling of knowning that no matter who wins the race...you were witnessing history.

    Texas, Michigan, Chicago, Kentucky...
Race after race: standing for 2 straight hours, screaming at the TV, fighting a headache from a lack of oxygen...and unable to leave the room (even during a commercial break).

I personally don't care how many people were in the stands, how many people were watching on TV or how many cars have sponsors. I don't even care what country the drivers were born in, what series they came from, or what series they're going to.

      Richmond.

Proof that an area not usually considered "Open wheel friendly" ( even though there's a longer history than many folks are aware of ) can draw well .

A large part is due to the fan-friendly approach RIR has always had , but Richmond area fans have proven that they are willing to attend an IRL event and the east coast OW fans love this event.

The Indy 500 is why the IRL will survive.

Survive and succeed are two different things.

IndyCar racing will survive and thrive in the coming years.

            Why?
            Indy 500
            Tony George
            Exciting races
            Fully modern car/engine design

All that will bring an ever increasing number of fans which will bring more sponsors. IndyCar racing keeps getting better every year. I can't wait for next season to begin.

              Yoo Hooo! Here's another one!

Been a fan since 1970 and the IRL racing in recent years is the best I have ever seen in all my years of being a fan. I just wish the winning drivers could last longer in the series like they used to in the 70s to help create a stronger fan base.

In the 70s we had plenty of drivers coming and going, but the winners and the strong runners seemed to comeback year after year it seemed.

Just a stab in the dark. You are not a sponsor.

I don't care what the IRL's sponsors think of the series any more than I care what TV advertisers think of the TV shows I watch.

                  I know what I like.

I think we're well on our way of having that issue being moved to the "back burner" if you know what I mean.
                      But that's just my opinion!

                          Racing!!!

The IRL has good racing. That eventually is rewarded. There are new fans created every day. No one I've taken to a race has ever been disappointed. And they've all attended more events since then.

Plus, the business plan is properly backed by people who care and have the resources to insure it will thrive (eventually). No one that ATTENDED the races this year felt things were going downhill. The TV numbers STUNK, but AT THE RACETRACK, things were decidely positive.

More of the same, and the TV will eventually catch up (with a little help from our friends at ABC that is).

I thought the IndyCar Series has already succeeded. At least from my perspective. It can still be better, just like all of us try to be each day. Maybe the question should be, "Why Has the IndyCar Series Succeeded?"

I don't see how the racing can get any better. The safety of the cars needs to improve, as it has each year.

The IRL just needs to continue to increase their fan base.
