Josh Beckett / Sam Hornish

They are both young, they look somewhat alike, they both have tremendous fire, and they refuse to accept losing. Yes, different sports, but it is so good to see young men like these two take a wonderful opportunity and capitalize on it. Yankee fan or Penske fan, this is good stuff for all of us.

ok, i'll take whatever consequences for this, but:

mvp beckett just shut-out the yankees in yankees stadium to win the world championship. sam has yet to lead a lap at indy.

's OK, eagle, some of us are aware that the season consists of more than the race at the end of May. I believe the term you and your friends use for those that are not aware of this fact is "Indycentric".

While excelling at IMS is still an important goal for many of the IRL participants, it's not the only race the IRL contests.

Those who have watched the other events on the schedule have had the good fortune to see Sam Hornish exhibit his considerable talents and use his skills to earn consecutive IRL championships.

Some other well known individuals in the arena of open wheel racing have also noticed these skills. As a result, Mr. Hornish will be vying for his third IRL championship while driving for the well known and respected team owned by Roger Penske.

Heck, for all I know Beckett was oh-and-six at last place Texas this year with an ERA that looks like the GDP of a third world country. It doesn't make him a bad pitcher........

I will always remember Beckett as the Cub killer. He was incredible.

I was so glad to see this post - I told my husband last night during the game last night that Beckett looked like Sam & he questioned my sanity/vision .

...count me in the group who also thought there was a similarity in appearance between Beckett & Hornish.

If you really compare pitcures & study it, no they don't look alike. But as a passing glance & distance shots there is a similarity. I noticed it earlier but I'm glad I now know that I wasn't the only one and that I wasn't just losing my mind!
