  • Indy Star Reminder

The Star is publishing their big preseaon racing rollout tomorrow Sunday the 10th. That must be why there is a lack of TiTW info from Maynard this week

Good Golly, am I hawking for the Star, I must need to be Skull @#$%%$.
    Natural Born Cynic

What irks me (maybe its too soon for the truth), DW was a 16-oval WIN specialist, yet the vast majority those boohooing for him, hardcarders & fans, alike are the same ones trying to kill anything with more than 9 deg banking & 4 corners, where Dan ultimately made his home...

You should because the issue sucks. A big write up about Penske is all I had to read about for the IRL PAGE. What about Hornish, Buddy, Jacques, Sharp, and the rest of the IRL hotshoes. Boy, I wasted my $1.75 on that Nascar oriented piece of crap.
Team KELLEY ROCKS! Get well soon Jason! Three in top ten at KY. Way to go Scott, Al, and Tony!

It is sad that the Star has become the USA TODAY Indiana edition. That racing preview was just a tree that should have been saved!

It was AWFUL!!! The first 5 pages are NASCAR. Page 6 is CART. Page 7 is a paid CART ad. And finally we get to the one page IRL "report." It's typical, though. I guess the IRL did get top billing over F1.
            It's not worth reading!
            Have a very blessed day!

Anybody else wonder if that is how things would be had they not fired Robin Miller?

                JoeBob...

It would have been the same, exact Troyron and 'I hate Tony' [email protected], day after long day.

The Scar has officially died. Pulliam would turn in his grave if he got a load of what that once fine newspaper has become.

NO ONE left at that rag has any comprehension about where they are geographically.

                They should be ashamed.

The people that own the Star now have most things centrally written. There is a good chance that the insert had very little or no input from the Indy based staff.

I sent Curt Cavin an email stating my disappointment in the "special racing section", but i'm sure it won't matter much to him. It's just a shame that something that helped make this town what it is, can be so totally disrespected. IMS seems to be the ugly stepchild now. It takes a back seat to not only other racing series, but other sports in this town. Without IMS there would be no other major league sports in this town.
I think you're probably right, Defender.

I also sent Curt Cavin an e-mail stating my disgust for this piece. I was also upset by the fact that there were three stories about CART the previous two days. All of it OLD INFORMATION. It's infuriating to live in this city, and have the Star treat the Speedway in this manner. Has TG thought about getting into the newspaper business?

With the garbage for a race forum they allow at their web site, what do you expect?

I received a reply from Curt Cavin. To summarize it says "too bad." "We feel we're a city of diverse interests and that's the purpose of doing the section" As far as placement, "we led with NASCAR because IRL and CART don't begin for another month, and there's extreme interest in Jeff Gordon."

My dad hid it in the paper Sunday and then when I found it I was like um that was a bad preseason section.

                              A realistic response...
