Delphi 'Drives Tomorrow's Technology' in new television commercials
(Jan. 25) -- Delphi is debuting two national television spots the week of
Monday, Feb. 25. The two, 30-second spots entitled "Gotta Go - Highways" and
"Gotta Go - Byways" showcase some of the company's innovative technologies.
These commercials support the current print advertising that maintains the
    tagline "Driving Tomorrow's Technology."
The spots utilize new Hollywood filming techniques and striking visuals that
feature Delphi's sponsored IRL race car and driver Scott Sharp. These types of
cutting-edge, cinematic effects nicely compliment Delphi's brand strategy.
"The new spots present a broader view of what Delphi does as a company, beyond
its more well-known automotive applications," said Bill Lafontaine, Delphi's
director of marketing and customer development. "Whether it's communicating
better or traveling safer, the spots make it clear that Delphi's innovative
    technologies improve people's lives."
The television commercials will run primarily on cable networks, as well as on
network television as part of Delphi's Indy Racing League (IRL) sponsorship from
March to October, including the Indy 500. Be sure to look for Delphi's new spots
on CNN, Fox News, Bloomberg, CNNfn, CNN Headline News, and MSNBC.

All very highly watched cable networks! They did however, leave out the weather channel!

What's with that? No prime time networks? H###, those are the channels the local lumber yards advertise on.
    Have attended: Indy 500 (36), Belle Island (3), Kentucky (4), St Pete (3), Homestead (1), Texas (2) Michigan (5), Cleveland (3), Iowa (6), Chicagoland (5), IRP (2), Eldora (3)...

Delphi isn't a local lumber yard. In fact it doesn't even sell anything to the public. It sells strictly to other companies, whose executives and decision makers watch those networks. It's called knowing your customers, and smart advertising.

Of course, if you want to wander down to your local Delphi store, I'm sure the manager would listen to your complaint!

They're aiming for the target market. Very wise, actually.

Why pay for advertising during "Friends" when none of your target market is likely to be watching it?

Kind of like the advertisements for 3M:

"We don't make the things you buy. We make the things you buy better."
