  • Panther and Scheckter Done Deal Guaranteed!

The deal is sealed for Tomas Scheckter and Panther and it will be announced Saturday due to Pennzoil's proximity to the Texas Motor Speedway.

Old news but Dane Carter will be running a second MIPS car for Panther racing at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend as well.

I still say he's proved quick and is still improving. I don't know how well he works with a team, but if potential is what you want, and if he is indeed chosen, I think tehy made a good choice.

After my endosement, I bet Panther is relieved!

Most of us don't do things that way here.

You have been here about a month, perhaps you haven't seen enough examples of how things are done. Generally, the thing to do is provide a link to substantiate what you are posting.

I too have access to inside information, but when I have permission to post it, I say something like "I have heard. from someone that I trust." There is a guy here who has a "colorful shirt" who appears to be "way inside," that likes to say things like "take it to the bank," only to be proven to be mistaken several days later.

If you can't provide a link, "I have heard" is a better way to phrase things, it leaves you with a little wiggle room if things change. There are some here who most know, that can post things and have them accepted at face value, but the list is short and well known.

I must admit I am a little biased. I am a big Cheever fan, and I just still have a little problem with Tomas walking out on the team. I just don't know if I can root for him, and I know not nearly as much as I have rooted for Sam this year.

I know that is totally irrelevent to Panther, but that is how I feel. I know they will be under pressure to win without Sam, and Tomas does give them a decent chance I think.

I loved Pancho Carter in the Silver Crown division years ago...and Dane may be a great guy, but he has shown very little in the Silver Crown this year in what is probably a very good ride.

As far as driving goes, there are many other drivers who deserve a shot more than him. But good luck to him...love to see him make it.

            Mackie

Once the press release is out everyone knows anyway. You people want insider information "insider means before publicly announced".

BUT RESPECTING THE TF'ers! and Mackie

How's this: I HAVE HEARD it is a done deal, but I guess you will have to wait until Saturday

Actually in the 2 races that he has run the Panther Silver crown car he has done very well, 9th at IRP and 7th at Nazareth. I believe they are only running the pavement races, not sure who's car he is running on dirt.

              Is it May yet ?

And Dane looked really good at IRP in the midget during the Twin25s. He and Cole both have made a big leap forward this year.

And now he's moving on to IPS, right up the ladder....cool.

If this proves to be true, then I am a FORMER Panther racing fan.

                    What a waste!

Carter is running his family car at the dirt races.

Yeah, such a waste, with a solid heirarchy at Panther compared to what he had with Ego 1 and Ego 2 Scheckter should be formidable.

But hey, he's only won once in the last 2 seasons, led more laps than anybody and he's only 20 something. such a terrible waste... Just for the fun of it, I hope Panther wins like 8 races next year, if for no other reason to make the Tomas detractors eat crow.

I know Dane was at DuQuoin with that team and I am pretty certian he was also at Tulsa and S'field. Perhaps he's just a little short on dirt experience. Don't get me wrong, I am all for Dane making it. I just think that Tracy Hines and a few others are a bit more talented.

Since Kentucky (and the addition of the Gen IV), Hornish has had 3 wins and 1 second .... in 4 races. I wonder if Scheckter can even get close to that record.

Of course, I would be more impressed if he was winning in USAC and not just "looking better."

IPS, the starting line for those that can't beat the USAC champions....
