  • Another open wheeler leaving

Lonnie Adamson, who just clinched his second consecutive Supermodified Racing League Championship, is getting a test drive in a Roush Truck. Here is a twenty four year old proven winner (including the last Copper World for the Supers) who is being seduced by the fendered bunch. If anyone should be going to the IRL, it should be this kid. The Supermodified Team he drives for is owned by Davey Hamilton with a some interest by Tony Stewart. The Sanctioning body he drives in is owned by the same Mr. Hamilton. Come on IRL owners, this guy already drives fast enough to qualify an Indycar at Phoenix. Someone pay the kid to stick to open wheel.

    Gerald,
Please let us know how how it goes.
Wishing Lonnie the best of luck - he's earned the shot at the big time. I know he has lots of fans in the central valley

If anyone is interested, Lonnie will be in his familiar orange supermodified at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway's Bullring on October 4.

Just remember that not all open wheel drivers want to race in IndyCar. As Ryan Newman pointed out, he always wanted to go to NASCAR.

It's sad when an open-wheel driver heads south but lets be realistic...

How many Indycar/IPS/CART teams are there versus Cup/Busch/Trucks/ARCA, etc? I don't mean job openings...just the number of teams in existance.

Even if all the foreign drivers got the chop today there wouldn't be that many openings.

What's a driver that wants to drive do?

I don't think there was any questioning the motives of the drivers jp.

Don't blame NASCAR for winning the sponsorship battle. OW basically comitted suicide.
Any young stud racer is gonna look hard at Nas because there are so many seats available and no need to bring money.

How can we say goodbye to someone who wasn't here.

On another note. He's just testing. He doesn't have the ride.

I met a kid at Manzanita last week that drives an IMCA car and he can't understand why Barnes hasn't called him either.

Back before net forums people went to the races and enjoyed them.
Now we have professional bit98rs that know about how it shoud be, could be, would be.

                So start the flame thowers
I've got sources. I used to know a T-Shirt vendor at the Phoenix track.

Absolutely...the IRL doesn't need any more young, American talent...good riddance I'd say...

I think we've just about run out of Brazilians, and there are only so many seats in NASCAR, unless somebody starts a new affiliated series. Heck, maybe they could try minivans next.

So maybe those two factors will inspire the league to grab some short trackers who critics of the league deem worthy enough.
