  • IRL marketing

........as you all know needs a big wakeup call. Here I am driving this morning listening to the radio. They were talking about news and upcoming concerts. Kid Rock will perform w/motorock at the grand prix of america's. They didn't say anything about cart but did about the trans am series. I guess my gripe is that I hear this on a Louisville, Ky radio station and I never EVER hear a dang thing about the IRL. Even if the IRL wanted to do concerts before races get someone besides Wynonna Judd for peats sake. I read on here that the IRL is trying to target the young"extreme sports crowd". I would go to a oval race anytime before I would a street parade but what would the average "target audience" go to see Kid Rock or Ashley's sister. OK let me have it.

Darn BSJracing, you beat me too it! You pulled the trigger just a bit faster than I did. That's what I was going to say.

I thought this was a good commentary on the IRL and the Extreme Sports Marketing that they're totally missing out on: http://www.motorsport.com/magazine/f...l&D=2003-09-19

                I believe he's being a smart aleck.

Appears to me the last time you helped we wound up with a sponsor on the side of Greg Ray's car, another in-car cam, and ABC selling Trim Spa lots of ads.

Not to mention the Trim Spa girls.

Help like that is hard to find these days.

I think if you were there to represent the New York marketing area that would be a fine idea!!! In fact, you could propose to autowrap your cabby and run extra routes during rush hour in Manhattan just to help regional marketing awareness. The list of pissibilities are absolutely endless!!!!

Nothing better than a New York Cabbie to market IRL races to New Yorkers.

Eve 6 played at the Chicago race and they were REALLY good.

Wynonna Judd played at Nashville. Hmmm, a famous country singer in the hometown of country music? That just almost sounds obvious. That sounds like GOOD marketing to me.

Besides, Kid Rock went out when that little midget died.
How is it that a Hoosier and a Boilermaker mix together to make a Jaguar???

I suspect that's because MotoRock is now the new title sponsor of Trans-Am but hasn't (overtly/yet) assumed that role for CART.

Kid Rock's opening act isn't "MotoRock" but Queens of the Stone Age.

That didn't stop FOX from letting him play acoustic guitar on a WC pre-race show earlier this year. Or from Tony Stewart letting him be the narrator on his new DVD.

                          What marketing?
If you do what you've always done...

you'll get what you've always gotten.
