Does qualifying mean anything at Fontana?

I'd think that qualifying up front is good for two things: it's good for one's ego and keeps a driver out of the way of opening lap "issues."
But as far as the race is concerned it matters little. The driver who's done a good job practicing to run well in the pack and in all of the various lines around the track has spent his time wisely.
