Does qualifying mean anything at Fontana?

Except for the teams at the very tail end, does anything in the Top 15 really make any difference?

I'd think that qualifying up front is good for two things: it's good for one's ego and keeps a driver out of the way of opening lap "issues."

But as far as the race is concerned it matters little. The driver who's done a good job practicing to run well in the pack and in all of the various lines around the track has spent his time wisely.
