  • Now we will find out, and so will the Captain..

Gill de Ferran will drive a Penske G Force at Fontana. After Chicagoland and the poor Penske results, I wondered if Rogers engine program wasn't up to the power that TRD provides the G Force teams on Ganassi and Nunn. I asked if perhaps Roger would run a TRD engine in the last two races, on the "rolling NEW" of Fontana and Texas. Well, he didn't do that, but in putting GdF in a G Force, he did the next best thing, and in doing so, now we will see if Penske power, in "equal" cars, is as good as what TRD gives ALL it's other teams, IMO, including Foyt.

While I have your eyes and ears, watch for Greg Ray, his NEW G Force will now have all the right pieces!

Did it not have the correct pieces before it got wrecked??
One driver's "fuel strategy" is another driver's "speed up or we will park you!"

Well, I can think of at least one piece they wish they'd replaced.

Will it squeak or is it paid for?

There are allowable options that they didn't have, I think.

As for "is it paid for," the TSO story was that Panoz wouldn't release the car until paid. Access has the car, draw your own conclusions.

It's pretty inconceivable that the Captain wouldn't have the right stuff in the motor dept.
But the longer ovals except Indy have been their weak point.
I'm sure Sammy will fix that pronto in 04.

Well right now in IndyCar, the Captain has the only team that builds their own engine. The Captain loves fuel mileage, the real reason, IMO, that he ran the underpowered Aurora that some called the Chevy II last year. Even in his NASCAR effort, Penske relies heavily on Ilmor for help (trust me, I know), which he can't do in Indy car with Ilmor hooked up with Honda. I expect that before Toyota agreed to have Penske build his own engines, the Captain had to assure them that Ilmor would not ever see the engine. So, with all of TRD's resources, why wouldn't they produce more power, it is obvious that they do.

We have yet to find out though, Gil has a G Force, but as methodical as he is with his setups, we probably see how close he can come to Dixon until "Q" runs.
