  • Jaques Villeneuve

Looks like he is out of F1 after this season.. Would you welcome him back to the Indycars? I know he has been a critic of the IRL but since we welcomed back most of our ememies i think he would be a good addition.. He is a Indy 500 champion and Indycar champion i think he has some good name reconition.. What you think?

He hasn't had a sniff of the front in so long that I'll bet he's forgotten how to win. It might be fun to watch him humiliate himself.

Then again, maybe the old Jacques, the real Jacques, the racer, might just find it as difficult as tony Kannan recently stated he has found it. It might be fun to see a white-faced Villeneuve get out of the car and say; "Those of you who think this is easy, you come over and try it."

I think the real Jacques, because he is so honest, would have a great time in the IRL, thrive on the wheel to wheel combat, and become a great spokesman for the series. He'de also be good for alot of great quotes.

Name recognition, I'd take anyone back that wants to come, especially if they bring a new team with them. There are quite a few drivers who have had to eat some words to run in IndyCar, but once in, say how good it is. Some people here take things far too personally, it is good PR when in one series to look down your nose at the others. Hey, I think JV has talked the most smack, with CdM second, but I would like to see them in IndyCar, just to see them spin the move.

Not to worry, there are plenty of big buck sports car related manufacturers to keep JV and CdM busy and out of IndyCar. besides, we may have an opinion and even a pizz and moan, but we have no say.

I'm not sure that Jacques has much of a name anymore, not in the US. If you're looking for names, go get Jeff Burton or, heck, Jeff Green. Any mid or lower level NASCAR guy is far more identifiable than a guy who won the Indy 500 9 years ago and then flew across the sea.

Why 'force' him to run in the IRL? Let him go somewhere that he would be happier to run.

He and JJ Yelley can go pound sand together. We do not need either of them or their attitudes.

...I suspect JV would drive a taxi-cab in Montreal before he'd ever drive an IRL car.

Then we could have one more driver saying what the IRL really needs is road and street races. I don't think we need him.

Jim, IMO, that name will always be there. I also think that the present JV is still as good as he ever was, he just followed the wrong money trail and is in a bad car.

                        Villeneuve likes oval

JV mentioned more than once, upon entering F1, that he missed racing on ovals.

Also, while he has panned the IRL repeatedly, he has made positive comments about Indy and the history of the place several times. But he was, is and probably always will be, a CART guy. But, considering how much CART did to launch his career, you can't really blame him for feeling this way.

Now, with all of that said, do I picture him ever racing in the IRL?

                        NO

He might show up at Indy with a big Canadian sponsor running a one-off for a top team, but I don't think you will ever see him running Texas.

Jacques Villeneuve can disappear as far as I'm concerned.

He showed his preference. Let him buy a ride in cart.

Jacques deserved respect....eight up until he used the 500 to vault himself to F1 and then began crapping all over the very thing that gave hime fame.

The only people worse than drivers like him are the people that follow them blindly to the Motorock....Motorock....sorry that just cracks me up everytime I type it. Motorock
