They say good things come to those who wait. Well, for some of us, we've been waiting and things still aren't that great. (Donut, anyone?) But for many there are points aplenty after it seems that half the participants made the same picks.

My apologies for taking so long to post these, but I've had some problems staying on-line this week and I had to figure the scores in small doses (don't ask!) but now it's time to congratulate Things That Explode who (literally) blew away the competition with a 12-point race. wardygal and IndyIRLMan (who is looking nearly impossible to beat) managed 11 points each.

YES!!! Dr. Szvelbnik hits the trifecta at Chicagoland, his ancestral hunting grounds, appropriately enough! Whoodathunk it! Especially after garnering a donut just a race or two ago...hokey smokes!

Still, in the best post race fashion I dedicate this triumph to the following:

* The memory of the wonderful Budweiser Gran (that's how they spelled it) Prix of Manteno. SIRA faithful will remember it fondly...

* The late Allen Moseley, the fastest man at said Gran Prix of Manteno in his duals...

* John Ritter, a very underrated actor--see "Sling Blade" or "In Love With an Older Woman" for examples...

* and finally, to Warren Zevon and my late Tennessee neighbor, The Man In Black. Thanks for the memories, gentlemen. "Ring Of Fire" will be sung at the Fairgrounds this weekend as it is most every weekend, but it will be with a special poignancy.
