  • Rice Out - Barron In

According to Mike King on ESPN 950, Barron will be in the 52 this weekend and Rice is out. Not sure if this is a one race deal or for the rest of the year.

Personally, I think Rice is a good fit with Red Bull and I'd hate to see him lose that seat - even to Barron.

There are some drivers in the IRL that I would love to see Barron replace. Rice is NOT one of them.

Barron should excel in a situation like this.

I mean, he drove for Dale Coyne....

Darn, I just bought a Buddy Rice signature Red Bull hat.

Wouldn't mind seeing Alex in the 51, but replacement of Buddy would inhale quite vigorously.

Maybe Cheever will decide to run Barron and Rice and finally retire

I'd like to see Rice take the Red Bull money with him to a better team.

While I would hate to see Rice replaced, it is one way to determine if Team Cheever-Red Bull's problems are the car or the driver. I had previously felt the vast majority of their troubles was due to the dog Chevy but they haven't shown any real improvement with the Gen IV. I guess we'll all find out now since Alex is a proven winner in a well prepared car.

I think Cheever is playing mind games.

Many motivate by using the carrott or the stick. But in racing, it seems to be by using a glimps of the door.

                          Barron in an unfamiliar chassis

Alex has not driven the '03 Dallara. He's only been in the GForce. Would not be surprised to see him struggle with it but, of course, I'm delighted he's in a seat--just wish it wasn't Buddy's.

                            one more thing

He's in the very package that he MAY be running with Panther--so this may be a good test for all parties concerned.
