and I am in East Central Illinois. The Kentucky racetrack is located where and what accomodations are around. Same with Nashville and Milwaukee. Always looking for quality low priced lodging. Any suggestions or ideas for me??

The KY track is just south of Cinncy.
It is a newer and "nicer" facility than Gateway IMO.
I have always just made it a day trip so I am not the one to tell you about the hotels.
You might also make the trip to KC. It is also a very nice facility.
Which is very close to the city. Take in the "Plaza" and soak up the nations 1st "lifestyle" shopping center.
You might also want to consider making the trip to Chicagoland.
I would guess you could make that on a day trip.
It is also a great facility which has produced some pretty good racing.
I will miss Gateway but you might find that spending a few hours in the car could result is a more enjoyable experience at the track.
Enjoy! If the league is not going to shift their stance on the fees I would imagine all of the ovals would start being replaced by "chamber of commerce financially supported" TV infomercials dressed up like a car race for different city centers across the USA.

Chicagoland is a great facility. Much easier to get in and out of the Kentucky. Kentucky is a great track as well, but a little remote. Either race is worth attending. I am two hours away from Kentucky and do it in one day. I am 3 hours from the best in IndyCar racing at Michigan and do it in one day as well. I am 4 hours from Chicago and have always stayed in the area, but if I go this year, I will be pulling the ultimate day trip with eight hours of driving and 2+ hours of racing.

Thanks Coach, appreciate your help and suggestions. I am hoping after the season is over I can find out if there will be any kind of testing at Indy so I can that last fix of watching the cars run before the long, cold, cruel winter. I am sure if there is I can find out, in advance, of any testing.

Just in case you forgot - I know you didn't - but it is closser than Kentucky.Witnessed Mario's "Miracle at Indy"...Watched 3 win their 4th Indy 500...Was there for Petty's 200th win...Saw the last Novi qualify
