  • Heard at Gateway.....

...after the end of the race, a few 20 something boys were
standing up in about section 129 row 40-ish, and one said:

"NASCAR SUCKS! INDY CARS KICK A$$!"

    I love it.

Certain sounds grab yah. Roadsters, anywhere. USAC stocks with the 427s and Hemis. The first year of the new formula for IRL cars, sounded like trucks. I was at Daytona for the first time this year. The sound they make at speed does not have character.

Nascar fans worry about how their particular driver fared during the race. IRL fans worry about how the Hulman George family/IMS fared during a race. That is the biggest difference.

I don't care too much for Nascar, but c'mon, man! A small block at full song will always turn MY head!

More like we worry how our favorite series fared. That is the biggest difference. Being number one, NASCAR doesn't have to worry about this.

exactly.....This is the most alarming difference right now and the problem.

I worry about how my favorite driver finished, and I am an IRL fan. Seems to me it is a lot of the non-fans (but not all) that start the discussions about the rest.

I wonder why these 20 something boys even brought up Nascar?

Oh, Oh, Ohhhh, oooh...Mr. Kotter pick me!!!

                      [Kotter relucantly calls on Horshack]

It's because they were never taught any better. (?) [Horshack replies with an almost questioning manner, looking at Kotter for approval]

[Kotter pauses as if deep in thought]

                      Good answer Arnold!!

                      [Vinnie Barbarino] I knew dat!!!

I heard similar comments from fans as we were leaving Michigan a couple of weeks ago.
