  • IRL gear in full force at IRP SC race.

It was nice to see so many IRL hats and IRL/IMS shirts Thursday night.

Too bad it was circa 1996-1999.

Great race, though. First time I did not know every driver. There were a few NCTS drivers that ran as well as a couple of others.

Guess I need to get in touch with my roots a little more.

What irks me (maybe its too soon for the truth), DW was a 16-oval WIN specialist, yet the vast majority those boohooing for him, hardcarders & fans, alike are the same ones trying to kill anything with more than 9 deg banking & 4 corners, where Dan ultimately made his home...

Hey Gator, those NCTS drivers did drive USAC full-time in the past. We had two Busch drivers and two NCTS drivers in the race Thursday night. Leffler and Edwards from Trucks and Kahne and Bliss from Busch. Oh yeah, Newman and Stewart were there. As a USAC/IRL fan I knew almost all of the drivers including the Westcon #5 driver that I hung out with all night. Tapped the wall when the Kahne accident happened and then the motor went. (BTW the Westcon #5 driver was Jimmy Kite for the ones that do not know)

It was great to see Jimmy race SC again, wish he had the opportunity to do so more often.

Actually he has been running the SC cars on Pavement all year with Westcon. He did not run at the May event because he had the Last Row Party that night so the team did not run the car.
