  • Kite to race at Texas with PDM?

    FYI...

Jimmy Kite was interviewed yesterday (Thursday, July 31) on WXLW by Greg Rakestraw, Jay Baker and the other guy from "The Truth" (I think it was Scoggins) as he was gearing up for the USAC race. He indicated that he plans to be at Texas with the PDM team.

I thought PDM was going to runtest with Ed carpenter and give him a chance to run his IRL rookie test, then possibly puting him in the car before the end of the season for about 3 races? Maybe they will alternate Kite and Carpenter. I would NOT send a green rookie to Texas right away.
    Have attended: Indy 500 (36), Belle Island (3), Kentucky (4), St Pete (3), Homestead (1), Texas (2) Michigan (5), Cleveland (3), Iowa (6), Chicagoland (5), IRP (2), Eldora (3)...

The plan is to run Ed at KY, Chi, and Cal, so it looks like PDM will be in 4 of the last 5 races. Good luck to them.

Sounds good to me; I just hope it turns out that way.

Let's see, Jimmy at Texas, with a competent team and a Gen IV......

Carpenter passed his rookie test at Kentucky Wednesday. Ran 99 laps with a top speed of 214.

With PDM's ability to do more with less than most teams, maybe Carpenter can "find" enough sponsorship for next season for PDM to be a two car team. Just think.... a two car PDM team with Kite and Carpenter. That would be a nice choice with the Gen IV for the full season.

                    He's Tony George's stepson, he'll HAVE sponsorship.

Oddly enough, I am wearing my PDM shirt right now. Got a few glares from my VP but the supe's okay by it.

I would guess that EC is running just the 3 races to stay eligible for the "Rookie of the Year" in 2004.

If this works out for PDM, EC, and JK that would be great for all of them.

Because of old family connections I would expect Ed's full time ride to be with Foyt, as is his IPS ride.

Man I hope this isn't so. With solid money, PDM is a much better team.
